The first café at the new and modern food courts built by State Trading Organization (STO) at the South-West Harbor of Male’ City has been opened.

The opening of the first café at the new food courts was announced by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu via his official Twitter account.

The Twitter-friendly minister tweeted that the café was opened this Saturday morning, and that the rest of the cafes will soon follow.

The first café to open was an outlet by popular local restaurant, Oxygen Café.

STO began building modern food courts at the site of the previous low-budget cafes at the end of 2016.

The organization has been contracted to build four blocks with 26 food courts, parking zones and two toilet blocks.

STO has completed building 14 units at the two blocks on Ameenee Magu and 12 units at one block on Izzuddin Magu. The units have been built in three sizes; 15 units of 990-square feet, 7 units of 1,260-square feet and four units of 1,660-square feet.

Minister Muizzu had previously said some of the cafés at the food courts would open in April, and the rest would open by upcoming month of Ramadan.
