Supreme Court has issued a temporary order to follow the parliament decision

Supreme Court of Maldives has issued a temporary order to follow the parliament's decision until the Supreme Court comes to a decision on the state of emergency.

The parliament requested advise on the state of emergency yesterday after some MPs have said that a vote on the decree for state of emergency can be taken with 43 MPs. The temporary order issued by the court today said that the parliament decision must be followed until the court reaches a decision.

At the extraordinary sitting of the parliament yesterday, the state of emergency in the country was voted by 38 MPs to be extended by 30 days. And some portions of the decree was omitted. And so, the Articles 100, 101, 113 and 228 withheld during the state of emergency, has been ommitted from the decree.
