MP Ilham’s brother arrested

Dhangethi MP Ilham Ahmed’s younger brother, Adam Zalif has been arrested by the authorities.

Zalif, a former member of the Employment Tribunal, was arrested by the police at approximately 2 pm, last Tuesday.

A family member who spoke to “Sun” said Zalif, who works as an attorney, is currently under police custody at the Dhoonidhoo Custodial.

“Sun” has been informed Zalif was detained without an arrest warrant. Suspension of certain rights during the State of Emergency means an arrest warrant is not necessary for arrests made during the period.

Dhangethi MP Ilham is also in police custody, for suspected involvement in the recent coup attempt.

Ilhaam surrendered to the police after the authority announced him as a person of interest.
