Dunya goes on leave alluding to resignation

The State Mininster at the Health Ministry, Dunya Maumoon has gone on leave after alluding to a possible resignation.

She has faced a lot of criticism for working for the government while her father, the former President of the Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and brother, the MP for Dhiggaru constituency, AHmed Faaris Maumoon, are in police custody.

In a tweet sent out today, Dunya announced that she is on leave from the Health Ministry and said that she is ready to leave the government but is contemplating if that would be the best decision for the country.

The former Foreign Minister in the current regime, Dunya Maumoon, left her position after her father, former President Maumoon, withdrew his support for the government of President Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

The former President, Maumoon, was recently arrested in suspicion of conspiracy to overthrow the government.

Dunya has recently called for the release of her father from police custody.
