ACC officers acted against proper conduct: Family Court

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) investigation team on Thursday acted against proper conducted and addressed the court’s staff in an “uncivilized manner”, Family Court has said.

“The court regrettably notes that a member of your commission acted against proper conduct, argued and challenged the court’s statements, spoke to the court’s staff in an uncivilized manner, and told the media untrue stories about being barred from entering the court,” said the Family Court’s Administrator Ibrahim Thaufeeq in a letter to ACC on Sunday.

According to the ACC, an investigation team from the commission was asked to leave the Family Court premises on Thursday after being told that the court did not wish to discuss the ACC warrant to obtain documents, and that they were “busy with other work.”

The Family Court Administrator’s letter to ACC further noted that the court has cooperated with the commission and has provided information when requested in the past.

“The court does not share information unless the information required by ACC is stated explicitly and in detail, and the court will provide the necessary information and material if the information and material are requested as per the letter in reference.”

ACC on Sunday filed complaints with Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz Hussain and the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) over the family court’s obstruction of the commission's corruption investigation.
