Maldives Police Service (MPS) has warned the public to refrain from selling AFC Challenge Cup entrance tickets at inflated prices on the black market.
Football Association of Maldives (FAM), to counter the rise of a black market, has restricted the sale of National Football Stadium tickets to one ticket per person and five tickets per person from the seats and stairs, sold for MVR 50 and MVR 25 respectively.
However, National Football Stadium tickets are already available on social media groups for up to MVR 1000 for a ticket from seated areas and MVR 500 from the stairs.
Superintendent of Police Ahmed Izham told Sun Online today that they are monitoring the situation and that they will track down those who sell tickets at inflated rates on social media. Police will also monitor the area around ticket vendors on match day, he said.

“The market emerged when tickets went on sale today. Tickets for Maldives matches normally fetch higher prices. We are checking who sells tickets at high prices on social media. We are monitoring these individuals,” Ahmed Izham said.
Superintendent Izham said that individuals with black market tickets "might not be able to enter” the stadium on match day.
Black market tickets fetch the highest prices on match day. This was apparent during SAFF Championship held in Male’ and Colombo in June 2008, when large quantities of tickets changed hands on the street at highly inflated prices.
