Police officers dispatched to Addu ahead of AFC Challenge Cup

A special detachment of police officers have left the capital this morning to maintain security in Addu City during the 2014 Asia Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup, to be held in Addu and Male’ from 19 to 30 this month.

AFC Challenge Cup group B matches, to be held on 20, 22 and 24 May, will be held in Hithadhoo Zone Stadium in Addu City. The police officers will maintain security of the foreign national teams, along with the security of several venues such as Hithadhoo Zone Stadium, the two tourist resorts which will accommodate the teams, their travel routes and practice grounds.

Countries in the 214 AFC Challenge Cup group B are; Turkmenistan, Philippines, Afghanistan and Laos. The first match, between Turkmenistan and Laos, is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on 20 May.
