Maldives has won a friendly match against Laos 7 – 1 ahead of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup, scheduled to begin on Monday.
The match kicked off at 9:00 p.m. at Galolhu Stadium in Male’, and the first goal for Maldives came in the 10th minute by Ali Fasir, who also scored one more goal in the second half. The remaining goals were scored by Hussain Niyaz, Ali Ashfag (2), Shamveel Gasim, and Adhuham.
Laos and Maldives are presently in 174th and 153rd place respectively in the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) World Ranking. Maldives is presently ranked third among South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries.
About 6,000 supporters - most wearing red jerseys - were present at the stadium to spectate the match.
