Maldivian domestic violence suspect arrested in Malaysia

A Maldivian man has been arrested in Malaysia in connection to a criminal investigation by the authorities there.

A spokesperson from Maldives police confirmed Abdul Bathin Mohamed Mustafa’s arrest on Saturday.

The spokesperson said that he was arrested in connection to an investigation by the Malaysian police, but did not specify the nature of the investigation.

“Maldives Police Service has been informed that Bathin was arrested in connection to an ongoing investigation by the Malaysian police,” said the spokesperson.

But the spokesperson added that Bathin is also the suspect in a domestic violence case under investigation by the Maldives police.

The police have not disclosed any further details.
