Maldivian fusion band 2ofus has chosen to compete on Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) over India’s Got Talent (IGT) due to a scheduling conflict, with both shows’ next rounds set for the same date.
Following successful auditions—shortlisted for BGT’s 19th season and advancing in IGT’s 11th season—the band opted for the global stage of BGT to represent the Maldives.
“This was a tough choice,” said lead vocalist and guitarist Ahmed Adhuham.
“Both platforms are amazing, but BGT offers a chance to showcase our talent worldwide. We want to inspire the next generation through our music.”
Known for their unique fusion of Maldivian and global sounds, 2ofus recently placed 2nd Runner-Up at the Battle of the Bands International in India. This decision marks a historic step as the first Maldivian band to reach such heights, aiming to elevate Maldivian culture globally.
The band, comprising Adhuham, Abdulla Shamrooh, Mohamed Nasooh Bin Nasruddin, Ahmed Shaheed, and Ahmed Jasheem, thanked their supporters, sponsors, and fans. Adhuham added, “Every note we play carries the pride of the Maldives.”
