Statistics published by the Maldives Police Service show over 1,000 road accidents were reported from Male’ area in the first three months of this year.
The Police published the statistics of accidents reported between January 1st and March 31st on Tuesday.
While a total of 1,068 accidents were reported during this period, the most accidents were reported from Male’ City.
In this regard, a total of 561 accidents were reported from Male’ City.
January: 152 accidents
February: 216 accidents
March: 193 accidents
A total of 454 accidents were reported from Hulhumale’ during this period.
January: 145 accidents
February 169 accidents
March: 140 accidents
One of the accidents from February resulted in a fatality.
49 accidents were reported from Velana International Airport.
January: 19 accidents
February: 12 accidents
March: 18 accidents
Four accidents were reported from Vilimale’.
January: 2 accidents
February: 1 accident
March: 1 accident
The 1,068 accidents reported in the first three months of this year account for a significant increase compared to the same period last year, where 831 accidents were reported.
A total of 2,886 road accidents were reported to the Police last year.
