New Registrar of Companies appointed

The government has appointed Mariyam Shamma Ismail as the new Registrar of Companies on Monday, March 10, 2025.

The Minister of Economic Development, Mohamed Saeed confirmed her appointment and congratulated her in a post on X.

Shamma completed her Bachelor of Laws from the University of West of England in 2004. She was the Consumer Ombudsman in 2021, and prior to this she had been a legal consultant at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

Her other professional responsibilities include the Director of Legal and Policy Affairs at the Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) and the Registrar of the Supreme Court.

The Registrar of Companies position became vacant after Mariyam Visam tendered her resignation on March 5^th.
