Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) collaborated with Singapore Airlines to host Chinese media representatives and key opinion leaders (KOLs) on a familiarization trip in the Maldives.
The visit took place from February 18-23, and provided participants with firsthand experience of the Maldives' world-class hospitality at Pullman Maldives Maamutaa and The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives.
It marked the first familiarization trip of the year targeting the Chinese market as part of Visit Maldives’ ongoing efforts to position the Maldives as a premier luxury destination.
According to Visit Maldives, the trip showcased the destination’s diverse offerings and exclusive getaways, providing participants with a firsthand experience of its unique attractions.
Visit Maldives said that by highlighting the Maldives’ distinctive aspects, the trip aimed to enhance destination awareness and inspire greater interest among Chinese travelers.
The Maldives has welcomed over 56,150 visitors from China this year.
Visit Maldives carried out a series of targeted marketing initiatives to attract Chinese New Year travelers, including a special social media campaign, a digital campaign in collaboration with Qunar, and a dedicated webinar, along with various PR activities to enhance destination visibility.
Visit Maldives said that ongoing efforts to strengthen the Maldives' appeal in the Chinese market include targeted campaigns showcasing the Maldives’ unique experiences, media, travel trade, and KOL familiarization trips to deepen engagement, and joint promotional activities with leading travel partners.
The tourism promotion board is also participating in prominent industry events to expand market reach, planning a series of roadshows in China, and enhancing digital campaigns with engaging video content to attract more travelers.
Visit Maldives said it is committed to promoting the Maldives as a top travel destination by showcasing its stunning beauty, diverse experiences, and dedication to sustainable tourism.
“Our goal is to strengthen the Maldives' global reputation and ensure that we remain the top choice for travelers worldwide,” said the board.
