The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has been allocated a large plot of land from L. Gan to develop a plant nursery in the island.
HDC’s managing director Mohamed Mauroof Jameel visited Gan on Sunday. During the visit, Mauroof met with members of the Gan Council and toured the 100,000 square feet plot allocated for the project.
HDC said that the nursery project is part of the corporation’s pledge to support President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s five million tree project by planting one million trees.
According to the corporation, the nursery in Gan will be used to grow plants that will be replanted in Hulhumale’, Rasmale’, Kudagiri, Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu.
HDC signed the pledge to plant one million trees in a ceremony held in Kudagiri on Saturday to celebrate two years since the picnic island opened.
The corporation said it aims to make all islands under their management green and pleasant.
