State fisheries company, Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has announced the dismissal of three general managers as part of reformative action announced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

MIFCO, in a message to the media on Tuesday, said the company’s management’s works are being monitored as part of efforts to strengthen the operations of the company under the President’s reform agenda and for this purpose, temporary and permanent measures, that are crucial, were being implemented.

According to the state fisheries company, the reform efforts were commenced last year with an aim to increase accountability and strengthen operations.

The company did not disclose the identities of the general managers dismissed nor their responsibilities.

One of the main priorities of the current administration’s reform agenda is to reform the state-owned companies.

President Muizzu has pledged to eradicate corruption with MIFCO, from its roots. A foreign CEO was appointed to the company for this purpose last December.

Dr. Vitaliy Lyubimov, who holds the post, has vowed to publicly expose anyone who attempts to influence the company, adding any future political interference or attempts to influence MIFCO's management would not be tolerated.
