Power restored after technical hitch causes city-wide outage in Male’

Power has been restored to Male’ after a technical issue caused the powerhouse to shut down, resulting in a city-wide outage that lasted around half an hour.

The power went in Male’ City at around 11:30 pm on Saturday.

In a post on X at 12:17 pm, the State Electric Company (STELCO) said that the power outage resulted from a technical issue at the powerhouse, which resulted in the generators shutting down.

The utility company said the generators are back online, and the company is working on restoring power to the city.

“Power has been restored to around 75 percent of Male’ now,” said STELCO, adding that they are working on restoring power to the rest of the city.
