Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) is set to make history by bringing the largest run in the Maldives to one-island-one-atoll, Fuvahmulah City for the very first time.

Organized in collaboration with Fuvahmulah City Council and Women Development Committee, the Dhiraagu Fuvahmulah Run is scheduled to take place on May 2.

Dhiraagu said that the event marks a significant milestone in promoting Fuvahmulah as a promising running destination and fostering a strong running community in the Maldives.

Speaking at the special event held on Wednesday, Dhiraagu’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ali Riyaz said that the Dhiraagu Fuvahmulah Run marks a new chapter for DMRR as the company extend the highly anticipated event beyond the Greater Male’ region for the very first time.

“We are excited to promote Fuvahmulah City as a key destination for runners, providing the opportunity to experience Fuvahmulah’s unique natural beauty, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality while running on an internationally certified route,” he said.

Fuvahmulah City Mayor Ismail Rafeeq expressed the city’s enthusiasm in hosting the event.

“It is an honor for Fuvahmulah City to host the Dhiraagu Fuvahmulah Run 2025. This event not only showcases the natural beauty of our city but also places Fuvahmulah on the map as a destination for international runners. We look forward to welcoming runners from across the Maldives and beyond,” he said.

Registration for Dhiraagu Fuvahmulah Run is expected to be open during the first week of February via the dedicated website.

The Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race is the first and only international run held in the Maldives that is listed in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running calendar with a World Athletics-certified race route.

Dhiraagu said that the expansion of the race to Fuvahmulah reflects company’s commitment to fostering a healthier, more active community and supporting local tourism by showcasing the unique beauty of the Maldives.
