Young boy sustains burns in Hulhumale’ apartment fire

A fire broke out in an apartment in Hulhumale’ on Wednesday night, resulting in burn injuries to a young boy.

A spokesperson from the Hulhumale’ Hospital said a 13-year-old boy was taken to the facility with burn injuries on Wednesday night.

The spokesperson said that the boy sustained several burns, but was not in serious condition.

“There weren’t any serious or major burns. It was a burn case. I am unable to give a percentage [of the extent of the burns],” said the spokesperson.

The boy remains admitted at the hospital.

The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said the incident was not reported to the authority.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this point.
