Former STELCO Managing Director Ahmed Shareef’s passport has been withheld in connection to the case under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

An official from ACC confirmed to Sun that a travel ban has been enforced on Shareef, effective of Tuesday.

No further details have been disclosed by the official.

Notably, the passports of 24 individuals including then-HDC Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and his brother, MWSC’s Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed were recently withheld over allegations that multiple people were given land from Hulhumale’ under the ‘Binveriya’ scheme despite not being on the list of recipients released in 2023 during MDP’s administration.

However, the passports of nine of them were released on December 30th
