Muaz replaces Zeena as PNC’s secretary general

State Minister for Defense Muaz Haleem (L) appointed ruling PNC’s Secretary General, replacing Zeenath Adnan (R).

State Minister for Defense Muaz Haleem has been appointed ruling People’s National Congress (PNC)’s Secretary General, replacing Zeenath Adnan following the expiration of her term.

Zeena, the wife of Local Governance Minister Adam Shareef, was appointed PNC’s Secretary General last year, after the current administration assumed office.

Sun has learned that Zeena’s term expires on December 31st. The party’s leadership decided against extending Zeena’s term. The reason behind the decision remains unclear.

Muaz was appointed to the post on Monday.

PNC’s Secretary General is mandated to oversee all administrative works related to the party.

Notably, the shift has come at a time when the ruling party is under fire for fraudulent enrollment of members in the party with fake forms. A case in this trajectory came to light today itself, involving the fraudulent enrollment of opposition MDP’s Vaikaradhoo MP Hussain Ziyadh (Fittey).
