Suspect threatening mother and sister for money arrested

The Criminal Court on Saturday has ordered the arrest of an individual suspected of threatening their mother and sister for not providing money.

The court ordered arrest on one Mohamed Shafeeq, a 32-year-old Male' area local. Court has ordered a seven-day remand on him.

The court order states Shafeeq is suspected of wielding a knife at his mother and sister, threatening them with bodily harm if they did not comply in giving money to him.

Authorities had discovered two knives from his room as well.

This is the latest in a string of incidents where parents have been threatened by their children over money. Earlier on October 22nd, an individual was arrested for threatening and assaulting their mother over money.

Last Thursday, another individual was arrested for allegedly threatening, assaulting, and forcibly acquiring money from their mother.
