Main ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has announced the provisional results of its internal elections to elect hundreds of party officials.
In an announcement on Monday night, PNC said the preliminary results were publicized after confirming they were in accordance with the results announced at the polling centers after counting the ballots.
The party noted that the final results will be announced once the original results sheets for the 143 ballot boxes placed nationwide are received to the party’s headquarters and after considering the complaints received regarding the elections.
In this trajectory, PNC has opened submission of complaints regarding the preliminary results of the party’s internal elections.
The announcement further read that the party will proceed with the election among elected officials for various posts after the final results are announced.
Polling in PNC’s internal election was held on Saturday from 10:00am to 14:00pm.
A total of 648 candidates contested for 1,984 posts in the election. Members were automatically elected for 1,300 posts as they were only contested by a single candidate in the election.
Some 33,500 members of the PNC were eligible to vote in the elections.
