Trespassing foreign vessel traced using drone

A foreign vessel that had trespassed into Maldivian waters had been traced by Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).

MNDF confirms it had utilized the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) drone from the military’s Air Corps to conduct a special operation during which they identified the trespassing vessel.

An official of the security forces spoke with ‘Sun’ Online notifying the authority will disclose additional information on the matter as much as they received updates.

The MNDF launched its Air Corps, utilizing drones for surveillance, on March 15, 2024.

These state-of-the-art air vehicles can fly between speeds up to 70 to 120 knots for 27 consecutive hours while reaching a maximum altitude of 25,000 feet above ground.
