Prima Kottu Mee, a popular instant noodles brand, has introduced two new flavors of Korean Ramen to the Maldives; fiery chicken and fiery cheese.
Ali Shiyaz, a director at Fancy Foods – the importer and distributer of Kottu Mee products in Maldives – said that one of the new flavors – fiery chicken – is already available from all its outlets.
He said that the other flavor – fiery cheese – will be available within two weeks.
“The cheese flavor we launched today will be available in stores within around 10-15 days,” Shiyaz told reporters on Saturday.
Fancy Foods has outlets in Male’ City, Hulhumale’ and Addu City. Its products are also carried by supermarkets and stores across the country.
Sajith Gunaratne, General Manager, Ceylon Agro Industries Ltd, Prima Group Sri Lanka, noted that Korean ramen products are popular in the Maldives, especially among the country’s youth.
Gunaratne said that the Kottu Mee Korean Ramen products have authentic Korean flavors, and expressed confidence the new products will be an instant hit in the Maldivian market.
Shiyaz said that Kottu Mee’s Korean Ramen products are more affordable than other brands available in the market.
“The price is significantly low compared to other noodles products. It is around 30-40 percent lower,” he said.
Fancy Foods launched Prima Kottu Mee noodles in the Maldives in 2008.
