Pakistan High Commission observes Kashmir Black Day in Maldives

Pakistan High Commission in the Maldives, on Sunday, observed Kashmir Black Day, expressing solidarity with Kashmiris in their battle for the legitimate right to self-determination.

Each year, October 27 is observed across the world as ‘Kashmir Black Day’ – marking the day India without any legal justification, forcibly took control of the state of Jammu and Kashmir 75 years ago, on October 27, 1947.

The event to mark Kashmir Black Day was held at the Pakistan High Commission in the Maldives in Hulhumale’ and was attended by High Commissioner Vice Admiral (R) Muhammad Fayaz Gilani, Deputy High Commissioner Zulqurnain Ahmad and a large number of the Pakistani community. Deputy High Commissioner Zulqurnain welcomed the guests and appreciated their sentiments for their Kashmiri brethren.

While speaking at the event, High Commissioner Gilani highlighted the historical significance of Kashmir Black Day and in this trajectory condemned the atrocities by the Indian occupation forces in Jammu and Kashmir over the last 77 years.

“We will always remember the sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their just struggle for their right to self-determination,” he stressed.

The High Commissioner underscored that India's actions amount to a violation of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions which says the final decision on the state of Jammu and Kashmir will be taken per the will of the Kashmiri people through free and impartial plebiscite.

He also expressed solidarity with the Palestinian brothers and sisters who are facing worse kind of oppression and brutality at the hands of Israel.

He called on the United Nations and the international community to intervene to stop the killings of innocent Palestinians.

High Commissioner Gilani emphasized that both Kashmir and Palestine require the world’s immediate and serious attention for the just resolutions of the long outstanding disputes for ensuring human rights, peace and stability.

The event saw special prayers offered to martyrs and freedom of Kashmir and Palestine. Moreover, messages from Pakistani Prime Minister and President on the occasion were also read out.
