Ministry, schools initiate discussions to discourage students from vaping

Education Ministry has commenced a series of meetings with senior officials and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) from schools aimed at discussing concerns surrounding the bad habit of vaping among students and increasing awareness on the matter.

As per the Ministry, the first session in the series was held at Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) on Monday night with the participation of Male’ area schools’ senior officials and PTA.

The session was also attended by Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu.

Education Ministry detailed that discussions during the session focused on ways schools and parents can collaborate together to discourage students from vaping.

The Ministry said similar sessions will be held for all schools nationwide as part of this series.

Individuals who shared their expertise at Monday night’s session include Education Ministry’s State Minister Dr. Ahmed Mohamed and the Secretary General of School Safety and Health Division in addition to Dr. Mohamed Ali, a consultant in Internal Medicine.
