Thinadhoo surfing hut developed under state grant opens

The surfing hut developed by Huvadhoo Recreation Club was inaugurated on Sunday at Thinadhoo City.

The hut was developed under the grant extended by the Ministry of Youth towards civil societies and associations.

The surfing hut in Thinadhoo was inaugurated by the State Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Art, Ali Shamman and Thinadhoo City’s Mayor Saud Ali.

The ministry reports extending financial assistance of MVR 245,000 to the association for the project, along with an additional MVR 35,000 the association raised from other entities.

While speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Shamman said the ministry is committed towards youth empowerment, skills development, and inclusivity in various community-centric initiatives.

He also added that the ministry was spearheading other youth-focused initiatives under the instructions of the Youth Minister Ibrahim Waheed, and noted the surfing hut symbolizes the role and importance of youth in the society and their enthusiasm for community-centric projects.

Shamman further encouraged the city’s youth to collaborate with the council and other state bodies to develop the area surrounding the surfing hut.

The ministry on Sunday began signing with civil societies and associations listed to receive financial assistance for various projects.
