A dangerous accident has been reported again in Hulhumale’ on Saturday as well.

Maldives Police Service confirmed the accident occurred at Hulhumale’ Phase II on Saturday, reported around 06:50hrs. The authority confirmed the accident involved a car and a motorbike, with the biker sustaining serious injuries following the impact.

Police further confirmed the victim is being treated at Hulhumale’ Hospital, though the authority did not specify details of the victim’s injuries.

The law enforcement authority added it is now investigating the case.

Saturday’s accident has been reported less 48 hours from the deadly accident reported on Friday early hours, that has claimed the life of one individual; 23-year-old Hassan Samah, who was reportedly traveling to Hulhumale’ to take part in the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race.

Police arrested the suspect in Friday’s accident, now identified as Mohamed Wisham Sidhqee, aged 26, from Addu City Hithadhoo. The court ordered a remand until sentencing on Wisham.

Earlier in July 27th, an out-of-control race car rammed into a parked biker, throwing the latter into mid air before they landed on the ground a few away from impact point.

The increased road accidents, with majority of these incidents involving racing cars, have sparked public outrage with many calling for a ban on such vehicles.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Friday instructed to implement eight stringent measures aimed at control reckless driving and speeding, which included an immediate revocation of the permit granted by Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to use an area in Hulhumale’ for racing and drifting.
