Immigration arrests 10 expatriates, gives notice to 273

The Maldives Immigration on Wednesday gave notice to a total of 273 expatriates with incomplete visa.

Immigration launched a large-scale operation in Greater Male’ area on Wednesday, from 16:00hrs to 18:00hrs, during which its officers managed to find these expatriates and provide them with the notice, and gave notices to 120 locals for illegal labor or employment of migrant workers.

Additionally, the authority was successful in catching 10 expatriates who had been evading from authorities.

The current government, since assuming office on November 17, 2023 to Sunday this week, had deported a total of 3,322 expatriates found culpable for various offenses, including undocumented stay and operating businesses illegally.

From the ongoing nationwide crackdown, Immigration has already inspected or raided a total of 257 venues.
