The Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) is scheduled to host a Guesthouse Symposium in October, seeking to support guesthouses and other related businesses operating in the local tourism sector.

In a press briefing on Sunday morning, MIB’s Deputy CEO Ahmed Riza said the symposium provides guesthouses, liveaboards, suppliers and other stakeholders with the platform to discuss concerns and come up with solutions for issues facing the local tourism sector.

Riza said the bank seeks to facilitate the development of the local tourism sector.

According to Riza, participation in the symposium is limited to 150 slots.

Online registration for the symposium is set to open soon.

The Guesthouse Symposium will be held at the Crossroads Maldives on October 10. At the symposium, participants will get the chance to showcase their products and discuss challenges and solutions with other industry stakeholders.

Riza said that through the symposium, the MIB hopes to promote partnerships between small and medium enterprises operating in the local tourism sector, and boost cooperation.

Ahmed Waheed, the Vice President of the Maldives Guesthouse Association, said that the participants will learn new and innovative ways to market their products.

“We sincerely ask that all guesthouse owners in the Maldives, including those in the atolls, come and join this,” he said.

Partnership agreements for the symposium will be signed in the coming weeks.
