Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has deployed more vessels to the Male’ area and Meemu atoll, as fishing improves in central Maldives.

In a message to the media on Monday, MIFCO said it’s vessel ‘Rehendhi 20’ has been stationed in the Male’ area to purchase fish.

It added that ‘Mahaa Kalaminja’ will be deployed to Meemu atoll later on Monday, to support ‘Rehendhi 23’ which is already in the area.

MIFCO added that fishing was average in Laamu atoll and Thaa atoll, and that fishermen expect fishing to begin improving in southern Maldives next week.

The signs of improvement in fishing comes amid a shortage of fish in the market.
