National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Thursday has provided temporary shelter to at least four people after a fire completely drestroyed an apartment in Male' City.
The fire broke out from the third floor of a residence in Maafannu district at Fulooniya Magu.
The apartment has been rendered inhospitable due to signifiant damage from the fire.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) also confirmed the significant nature of damage to the apartment.
Pictures shared by the authority show the household appliances and furniture in the apartment have been fully burned down.
MNDF is also extending their assistance to the residents living in the apartment.
Speaking with 'Sun' Online, MNDF confirmed the sitting room and bedroom of the apartment has been damaged beyond use.
Four people were taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for treatment after they inhaled smoke during the fire. They were discharged later after treatment.
