Man who assaulted woman with a rock remanded for seven days

The man arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman with a rock in GA. Villingili has been remanded in custody for seven days last night.

In a message to the media on Monday morning, Police said the suspect arrested in the case, when brought before Villingili Magistrate Court last night, was remanded in custody for seven days by the Court.

Police earlier identified the suspect as a 32-year-old Maldivian man.

The assault took place in the early hours of Sunday. Police said the man hit the woman, on her head, with a rock.

The victim was identified as a 46-year-old woman. She was treated for her injuries at Gaafu Alifu Atoll Hospital, however, has now been discharged home.

The case is under further investigation by the Police.
