Bank of Maldives (BML) expanded services at its branch in K. Maafushi on Sunday, to offer a full range of banking solutions to both individuals and businesses.
Maafushi is the biggest hub for local tourism in the Maldives. It sees the arrival of hundreds of tourists each day.
The expansion of the national bank’s services at the island is expected to support the thriving tourism sector.
According to BML, its Maafushi branch will now operate as a full-fledged branch, offering all services including USD deposits and withdrawals, loans and financing applications, cheque deposits, issuing statements, as well as currency exchange.
In addition to these services, the branch houses an ATM center for 24/7 access to cash withdrawals, deposits and transfers.
Moosa Nimal, BML's Director of Retail, Business and SME Banking, noted that Maafushi is a bustling hub for local tourism, and the demand for banking services has grown alongside the increasing number of visitors to the island.
“We are pleased to expand our presence in Maafushi and provide the community, businesses and visitors with convenient access to a comprehensive suite of banking services,” he said.
BML boats a nationwide network of 38 branches, 86 self-service banking centers, 143 ATMs, over 200 agents, and a full suite of digital banking services.
The bank says it is dedicated to supporting individuals, businesses, and communities throughout the Maldives.
