The police have opened an investigation into a break-in at one of the stores opposite the government hospital in Hulhumale’, in which an unspecified amount of money was stolen.
The theft appears to have taken place overnight on Wednesday.
According to a police spokesperson, the police are investigating the break in at the store, as well as damage to the door of My Dentist, a dental clinic located in the same commercial block opposite Hulhumale’ Hospital.
The cases were reported to the police at around 09:26 am on Wednesday.
“Initial findings show that cash and a mobile phone was stolen from the store,” said the spokesperson, without specifying the exact amount of money stolen.
The police have yet to make an arrest in the cases.
The police previously reported it recovered around MVR 4 million in drug and robbery cases, over the last six months.
