Home ownership for long-serving army officers

Minister of Defense Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon on Saturday, has revealed President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's decision to ensure home ownership for long-serving army officers.

Speaking at the completion ceremony for the 70th General Training course of the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), Minister Ghassan highlighted it was a key priority of the president to improve military infrastructure and services.

Ghassan said President Muizzu has prioritizing strengthening the military strength by increasing the weaponry for land, sea, and air operations while enhancing the services required by the officers.

Besides improvement of military infrastructure and services, the president aims to encourage the younger generations to either enlist in the military or serve the country in various other professions.

"President has begun efforts to enhance scholarship and educational opportunities for the youth to pursue education in engineering, medicine or other fields to serve the nation through these fields and by enlisting in the military," Minister Ghassan said.

The minister said the eventual outcome through these efforts would be to ensure dignified living for the military personnel after retirement.

"The president has planned to ensure home ownership for retired or long-serving officers under this vision," Ghassan added.

At Saturday's graduation ceremony, Ghassan congratulated the officers who passed their training.

"Today, beloved students, you have advanced towards serving in the army," the minister said.

Besides this, students with outstanding achievements were awarded with prizes. Cadet Hamna Rasheed was awarded topper of the batch.
