Fire extinguishing service in Maafushi officially launches

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF)'s Fire and Rescue service officially launches in Kaafu atoll Maafushi on Saturday.

MNDF reported its top officials and the Minister of Defense Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon met with Maafushi council to discuss on launching and expanding fire and rescue services in the island.

Chief of Defence Force, Major General Ibrahim Hilmy; Commander of MNDF Fire and Rescue Service, Brigadier General Abdulla Zuhury; along with general and senior officers participated in the meeting.

Maafushi is the first island outside of Greater Male' area to launch MNDF's Fire and Rescue services.

MNDF said it discussed to introduce the service in other islands of the atolls with larger population as well.
