Male’ City and two islands record damages to 155 homes in Saturday’s rain

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) states 132 homes in Male’ City, 20 homes in Sh. Feevah and three homes in Sh. Foakaidhoo were damaged as a result of heavy rain recorded across the Maldives on Saturday.

NDMA said 132 homes from Male’ City reported being impacted by flooding caused by heavy rain. While the authority attended 122 homes out of this, 732 sandbags were placed at 104 homes to prevent further flooding.

The authority further said 10 homes from Male’ City reported sewerage leaks of which 42 residents from six homes were relocated to temporary shelter and arranged meals for one night.

Meanwhile, 20 homes in Feevah and three homes in Foakaidhoo reported damages. Efforts to drain floods were carried out in Th. Hirilandhoo and Th. Vandhoo. One home reported damages in Vandhoo.
