Dhiraagu supports Care Society's vocational training program

Dhiraagu has extended support to this year’s vocational training program of Care Society, a local non-governmental organization that advocates for the rights of people with disabilities.

Dhiraagu has continued to support the Care Society’s vocational training program since the establishment of the NGO’s Vocational Training Unit in 2018.

The primary purpose of the program is to establish a self-sustaining and empowered community of young adults, enabling them to thrive independently, regardless of their disabilities.

This year’s program focuses on developing basic computer literacy skills, cooking, and arts and craft skills of students.

Currently, there are 27 students enrolled in this year’s vocational training program, who are working with special educators to learn these skills.

Dhiraagu said its contribution will support the provision of educational materials required for the program.

According to Care Society, the majority of students in previous year’s program have demonstrated increased personal development, with an 81 percent progress rate amongst students as per their student progress reports. Moreover, students have also exhibited improvements in communication skills, social interactions, and independence through the program.

Empowering young people and persons disabilities are key focus areas of Dhiraagu’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. As such, the company continues to support initiatives and programs such as the Care Society’s vocational training program.
