Overheating oven caused fire, three injured

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has confirmed that the fire, that broke out from the first floor of Henveiru Sangureyzge on Saturday evening, March 02, 2024 originated from an overheating oven.

Local authorities further confirmed that three individuals sustained various degrees of injuries and were transported immediately to ADK Hospital for treatment.

The injured include an expatriate, who received damages to their leg during their attempt to escape the fire along with two elderly Maldivian locals, a woman and a man, who had inhaled a significant amount of smokes.

The fire reportedly broke out at 18:10 on Saturday evening, and was fully controlled by 18:23 by MNDF Fire and Rescue.
