The Elections Commission (EC) will be placing 593 ballot boxes for the upcoming parliamentary elections, according to the commission’s vice chairman, Ismail Habeeb.
The EC shared information regarding the latest preparations for the elections during a meeting of the national advisory committee on Tuesday.
Ballot boxes will be kept overseas if at least 150 voters register to vote in the countries. EC said on Tuesday that ballot boxes will be kept in Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

Habeeb said that the complaints committee has received four complaints so far – two of which were related to candidacy.
Meanwhile, corruption allegations related to the elections will be investigated by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and broadcasting issues by the Maldives Broadcasting Commission.
The parliamentary elections is scheduled for March 17 – which falls within the month of Ramadan. While the Parliament recently passed legislature banning elections during Ramadan, it has yet to be ratified by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
