A snake has been discovered in a Timber House workshop in Male’ City.
An employee at the workshop, located in Maafannu district, confirmed the snake was spotted on Saturday morning.
He said the snake, which he described as “huge”, was found amid piles of wood.
He said the workers immediately reported it to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
The snake is now in custody of the MNDF.
The Timber House worker said the snake did not injure anyone.
A video of the snake coiled up inside a white sack has gone viral on social media.
The Timber House worker who spoke to Sun said the video was taken after soldiers caught the snake.
The snake spotted at the workshop appears likely to be a python.
However, the MNDF has yet to make an official comment regarding the incident.
Though rare occurrences, snakes have been spotted in wood workshops in the past.
