Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) is promoting Maldives at the East Mediterranean International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (EMITT) 2024.
This event is being held at the Tuyap Fair and Congress Centre in Istanbul, Türkiye, from February 6-9.
A total of 19 representatives from 12 companies from the Maldives tourism industry are taking part in this event, presenting their properties, services, and unique products to the market.
The EMITT is one the biggest travel trade shows in the East Mediterranean region.
MMPRC believes the exhibition provides a significant platform to promote the Maldives as the most preferred holiday destination in the East Mediterranean region.
“With improved direct connectivity with the Maldives, the potential of the market is growing day by day as arrival numbers also continue to increase,” said the tourism board.
MMPRC said that the Turkish market, in particular, holds immense potential for the Maldives.
In 2023, Türkiye ranked 24th as a source market, with 12,856 tourist arrivals.
MMPRC noted that Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu made his inaugural official visit to Türkiye, further aiding in improved bilateral ties between the two nations.
The tourism board said it marks a pivotal moment in bilateral relationship between the two countries, laying the groundwork for a multifaceted partnership, solidified by the signing of trade-focused agreements promising shared prosperity.
“This includes improved flight connectivity between the two nations to further facilitate the arrivals of tourists from the burgeoning market,” said the MMPRC.
MMPRC said it aims to consistently promote the Maldives in the Turkish market. The upcoming marketing activities include campaigns with major tour operators, media press and familiarization trips and campaigns with prominent publications.
