Maldivian Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer has met with his Indian counterpart Dr. S. Jaishankar.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the ongoing ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala, Uganda.
Minister Zameer, in a post on X, said both of them exchanged views on the ongoing high-level discussions on the withdrawal of Indian military personnel, as well as expediting the completion of ongoing development projects in the Maldives, and cooperation within SAARC and NAM.
The high-level discussions the minister referred to, took place in the first meeting of the High-Level Core Group between Maldives and India which took place at the Maldivian Foreign Ministry in Male’ on Sunday.
Commenting on the meeting, the Maldivian Foreign Ministry said both sides discussed agreements executed between both nations and a wide range of issues of mutual interest including the development of cooperation.
The Ministry also said both sides expressed willingness to intensify cooperation and agreed to fast-track the withdrawal of Indian military personnel.
