NDA seeks private parties interested in running drug rehabs

The National Drug Agency (NDA) has invited proposals from private contractors interested in operating drug rehabilitation centers in the Maldives.

The announcement was made by the NDA on Monday.

According to the NDA, the drug rehab centers should cover:

  • The provision of outpatient detoxification services;
  • Psychiatric evaluations;
  • Counselling services;
  • Psycho-social therapy services;
  • Drug testing;
  • And, physiological assessments.

NDA has asked interested parties to submit registration forms by 01:00 pm on January 21.

The agency said it will not accept proposals from parties that fail to register or submit proposals after the deadline expires.

NDA will be holding an information session at 10:00 am on Wednesday, and the presentation of proposals will be held on January 22.

The drug rehab centers in the Maldives are currently operated solely by the government. But on January 2, the government decided to allow private contractors, both local and international, to operate such facilities.
