Issuance of parking stickers on hold until more space created

Police say they have temporarily halted the issuance of parking stickers, until more parking space is created in the greater Male’ area.

A police spokesperson confirmed the decision on Monday.

“The police have suspended the enforcement of parking stickers given the lack of sufficient parking space,” said the spokesperson.

The police had previously warned against parking vehicles in the Green Zone, the area outside King Salman Mosque, and in Boduthakurufaanu Magu – expect in designated parking zones.

The parking of heavy load vehicles is also prohibited in busy roads.

The pause in issuance of parking tickets comes after the government announced plans to construct parking buildings to solve the issue of lack of parking space in the congested Maldivian capital.
