Construction Minister Dr. Abdulla Muthalib, on Wednesday, said 90 hectares have been reclaimed so far under the Gulhifalhu reclamation project initiated by the former administration.
Sharing updates on the Gulhifalhu land reclamation project via a post on X, Minister Muthalib said the reclamation works were proceeding at a fast pace, without any interruptions.
A total of 150 hectares of land will be reclaimed under this project.
Commenting on the project previously, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said the former administration has decided to dredge 24 million cubic meters of sand under the project, adding that the current administration has decided to include an additional 21 million cubic meters. This would add 85 hectares of land to Gulhufalhu.
Former president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration, under its ‘Binveriya’ housing scheme, had decided to issue a minimum of 2,000 land plots from Gulhifalhu.
