Male’ Atoll Council President Mohamed Nimal has resigned from his post on Sunday.
Nimal, announcing his resignation via a post on X, said current circumstances in his personal life hinder him from working outside of his island.
In light of this, Nimal said he has tendered his resignation from the post of the Male’ Atoll Council President as of 3:00pm Sunday.
Nimal, who has previously served as a deputy minister at the Tourism Ministry, thanked Male’ Atoll residents for bestowing him the opportunity to serve the atoll.
Nimal, a member of the ruling PPM-PNC coalition, has also previously served as a member of the Local Government Authority (LGA).
He had also held the post of state-owned Fenaka Corporation’s managing director before his dismissal in September 2016 in the face of corruption allegations against the company.
