China commits to increasing flights and projects

Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed states that Chinese government has provided assurance of increasing flights to the Maldives and developmental projects carried out by China in the Maldives.

Minister Saeed is presently in China, accompanying Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef on an official visit to attend the ‘China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation'.

In a post on X, Minister Saeed revealed that the Chinese government has provided assurance of increasing flights to the Maldives alongside increasing developmental projects and investments.

“A positive change as a result; hopeful days,” he added.

It had been China which was the closest developmental partner of the Maldives during the first administration of PPM-PNC coalition.

Major projects were carried out during the five-year term such as the Sinamale’ bridge project and the development of Hiyaa flats in Hulhumale’ Phase II.
