Abdul Latheef elected to JSC as lawyers’ representative

Ali Abdul Latheef has been elected to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) as the representative for lawyers.

Abdul Latheef had been the sole candidate who met requirements. The two other candidates - former High Court chief judge Shujau Usman and former Civil Court judge Zubair Mohamed – were rejected by the Bar Council.

The voting took place on Thursday via the Fahi Vote app.

According to the Bar Council, 443 out of 659 lawyers registered to vote took part in the vote.
